Alright here's a thing that I think worth the discuss:
Do you prefer to work for passion or for money?
Because you see... My dream job has always be to involve in a job that requires my expertise to beautify a thing/service/whatever it is. I like things to be beautiful and contemporary, disregard on how it will affect the sale of that particular 'thing', because I believe, when a thing is not sellable but it's in its perfect packaging, at least the outcome you'll get is branding. Conclusion is, I just hate doing sales, very complicated, full of figures, definately not my thing.
So how? You rather be broke all the time but work happily or hate your work but earning good money?

Depends on the time of life. Right now with raising kids...they tend to take some money. When it's just me that I need to take care of, do what I love. Of course, I get to do what I love and not worry about money right now because my husband is willing to work at something he doesn't like doing.

I think you need a bit of both really. In my view you need a good salary to support your preferred standard of living (and that will depend very much on the individual - an average for the US is believed to be around the $60k mark) because otherwise you will have to worry so much about financials at some point that you can't enjoy work anymore (and let's face it, most of us work to live and not the other way around). To stay in a job just for the money although you hate the work is even worse - it would destroy me pretty soon, I couldn't do that for much longer than say 1 year or so.
I prefer passion and peace, because money is just a instrument, something we need to ajust our lives, but not to live for it.

If we could have both, I would choose to work doing what I love and make a ton of money while doing it. I also know what it's like to be unhappy as well as to be broke, so I would prefer being unhappy because money can take away most of the problems or situations that were associated with me being unhappy in the first place. Make a ton of money and do what I love on the side, then it doesn't bore me from doing it all the time. I'm not a money hungry person, just know that being happy doesn't put a roof over your head. I would rather be unhappy with somewhere to lay my head or at least have my bills paid. :) Those are just my thoughts at the moment. ;)

Tricky question. If I work for fun, i.e. doing some writing that doesn't seem to earn money, it is not considered as work by my wife and friends. To earn their respect, I'd better earn as well. It's complicated.

Well I love acting, and that is my passion. I just love it and don't really care how much money I earn. However my dream would be to act and earn enough money to get buy so I didn't have to work another job. But I would far prefer being broke and doing something I love than the money :)
